Confirmed from Vietnam Veterans Memorial Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Vietnam Veterans Memorial Trailhead
“Powerful, scenic hike with a purpose I hiked the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Walk and it was one of those trails that stays with you.”
“The path winds through beautiful Sonoran Desert terrain—wide open sky, saguaro-lined hills, and rocky stretches that feel peaceful and expansive.”
This is a beautiful place ... easy to get to the memorial but if you continue on past it it starts to get more difficult. I enjoyed the hike and saw alot of wildlife especially these small lizards 🦎.
Amazing short trail (.2 mile) that recognizes the service of our Vitneam Veterans. Welcome Home!
Great memorial trail. Easy hike up to the end. The trail continues past the memorial for a longer excursion up to another mountain ridge. There are a few benches spread out. Vehicles can park on the street curb. Trailhead is directly across from a dog waste station located on the opposite side of the street.
Nice view of the valley, White Tanks, and Surprise. Our 8 year old did it, and he didn't struggle other than it was hot, even at 8am. It was well worth it, nice little hike.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
