We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Nautical Hills Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Nautical Hills Trail
This trail is a nice wide path that takes you through the Oregon coast rainforest. There are a few areas that the path is kind of steep. Take your hiking sticks along to make it easier. I'd say this is a moderate difficulty trail (because of the steepness). The trail is approximately 3 miles total in and back.
Really enjoyable hike, no legit parking and it basically enters at the end of someone’s driveway. Just be mindful of their property and space. Several creeks and little tributaries along the trail, maybe some close-to old growth within the trail although there are some spots that hug some clear cuts.
Hilly, old growth with an ocean view at the finale. Meanders along a creek. Many downed trees and one big one blocking the trail that you have to climb over. Not a good trail for small children. Some steep inclines. In general a good workout! Don't be fooled though...it's an out and back, not a loop.
Beautiful, woodsy, trail evoking the true feeling of the PNW. Huge trees, moss, mushrooms (some look like Smurf houses) and Newts galore all while remaining largely shaded and along a creek. The path is fairly clear and fairly wide and except for a few fallen trees is pretty easy to navigate.
